In March 2020, as the pandemic forced widespread shutdowns of nonessential retail businesses, the Retail Doctor began disseminating through almost daily emails and virtual speaking engagements on Bob Phibbs’s advice on how retailers could learn together to recover stronger. Bob’s optimistic, solution-based tutorials helped thousands of retailers weather the shutdowns and their aftermath. “We appreciate the acknowledgment and see the World Retail Forum mission of “learning together to recover stronger,” as a winning strategy. We started the #hope4Retail project to lift up the entire retail category at a time of fear and panic.
